Book Review: In Twilight, Bella Swan has always been a little bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she didn't expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. For Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance - because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. Somehow or other, they will have to manage their unmanageable love. But when unexpected visitors come to town and realize that there is a human among them Edward must fight to save Bella? Story of the ultimate forbidden love affair - between vampire and mortal. In New Moon, Edward decides it's better for Bella if he and his family leave. So he tells her he doesn't want her and bails. Bella goes into total depression for months. It's not until her father, Charlie tells her that he is fed up with her robotic mood and that if she doesn't go back to normal he'll send her back to her mom's, that she starts to wake up. She tries to fit in again with her friends but soon realizes that she pretty much has lost them all due to the neglect over the past few months. She starts to hang out and re-develope a freindship with Jacob Black. Bella discovers after awhile that Jacob is part of a long line of ancestors that turn into werewolves. Her relationship with Jacob becomes strong and he's in it for more than just friendship. Bella is not quite sure what her feelings are. She soon discovers that she can trigger moments in her head where Edward talks to her if she's in danger. She becomes addicted to these moments and begins to esperiment with activities that get her adrenaline pumping such as motorcycle riding. One day when she's supposed to hang out with Jacob and he ends up not being able to, she decides to go cliff diving. She jumps off the highest cliff and almost drowns in the waves. Jacob comes and saves her. When she returns home she discovers that Alice is there waiting for her. Jacob leaves and Alice explains how she saw Bella jump off the cliff in a vision. She thought that Bella had been trying to kill herself and that she had infact died. She couldnt see that Jacob had saved her because she is unable to see werewolves in her visions. Bella soon discovers that Rosalie has told Edward what Alice saw in her vision and that he has now gone to the Volturi to ask them to kill him becasue he doesn't want to live in a world without her. It's up to her and Alice to get to Italy in time before it is too late. In Eclipse, Bella is overcome with different emotions she's feeling for the two main men in her lives. Edward, whom she is convinced she is destined to be with, has returned from Italy where he ran last year to stay away from Bella and attempt to keep her safe from him. During that time, Bella formed a close relationship with Jacob. She feels for him as just a best friend but Jacob wants and sees that there could be more. Bella tries to get Edward to turn her into a vampire through out the story, and ends up being promised a shot after graduation. Meanwhile, in Seatle, numurous murders are occuring and the Cullens are under suspicion that a newborn vampire is on the loose. It isn't until Alice sees visions of their old enemy Victoria, that they discover she is building an army of newborn vampires to seek her revenge on the Cullen family and Bella. Bella must decide between a werefolf and a vampire and survive the ultimate threat of death against her. In Breaking Dawn, Bella and Edward got married after Victora's revenge. Bella's marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil. Edward grants Bella's wish and makes love to her. Soon after, Bella realizes that she is pregnant. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her pregnancy, she and Edward plan to return home. Edward, concerned for her well-being as the fetus develops with unnatural rapidity, urges her to get an abortion. Not only tt, Like many of his kind, Edward gets a little wild in the sack; he shreds pillows and destroys the headboard of a bed during their coupling, and bruises Bella all over her body. However, Bella still wants to keep the child and so contacts Rosalie for support, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children. Jacob's point of view, and lasts throughout Bella's pregnancy and childbirth. The pack of werewolves, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it, even though they must kill Bella to do so. Jacob vehemently disagrees with this decision and revolts, leaving the pack to form his own with Seth and Leah Clearwater. Bella soon gives birth, but the baby breaks many of her bones and she loses massive amounts of blood. In order to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob, who was present for the birth, immediately "imprints" — an involuntary response in which a werewolf finds his soul mate — on Edward and Bella's newborn daughter, Renesmee. Breaking Dawn shifts back to Bella's perspective, finding her changed into a vampire and enjoying her new life and abilities. However, the vampire Irina misidentifies Renesmee as an "immortal child", a child who has been turned into a vampire. After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens. In an attempt to save her, the Cullens gather vampires from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen allies and witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to the secret existence of vampires. At that time, Alice and Jasper, who had left prior to the confrontation, return with Nahuel, a 150-year-old vampire-human crossbreed like Renesmee. He demonstrates that the crossbreeds pose no threat, and the Volturi leave. Bella, Edward and Renesmee return to their home in peace. I was v impressed. After so many obstacles they faced, they are together, still. How sweeeeeeeet. |
